"Then I guess your date escaped", Rune said seeing Yvonne nowhere in sight at this point. She looked at the griffin who seemed to be quiet and having a poker face. " Excuse me, but you seem to be all alone at this festival. Do you mind if we talk"? she asked Jace.

He looked at the girl. Vampire or no, he wasn't sure how exactly he was suppose to approach a situation like this. People usually left him alone to soak in his thoughts and plans. Alone was his thing, he didn't know how to talk to people. But, if he were ever to find a way to stay a griffin, he would have to ask. Thus came the hard choice,
Yes, or no?
"Hn..." He said to her, moving over on the branch to make room.

Rune sat next to him and smiled. "So are you having fun at this festival"? she asked him.

He raised his eyebrow as if saying, 'do you see my expression?' But, he made his mouth twitch open to reply like a normal living creature.
"Sort of..." He said, his voice was still strange to him. It was too smooth, too unfaltering to be his. He was a rough, anti-social person. A sound like that could not come from him. He looked away from her to hide his discomfort.

"Really? I'm glad", Rune answered. She then studied Jace intently. "So what specie are you"?

"Griffin..." He said quickly. Ge glanced at her. "Tell me..." He spoke on his own for once, not answering a question, but asking his own. "How old are you exactly?" He pulled one of his legs up onto the branch and rested his forearm on his knee.

" I'm sixteen", she said answering his question. "I'm not over a century yet".

He smirked.
"Still very young..." He said, looking away from her again. "What's such a young girl doing so very far away from her coven?" Good lord what was wrong with him? This is the most he's spoken in eight years. And to a hyper vampire girl nonetheless.

" Well it is a festival, so I thought I should check it out", she answered. "I'm not really in a coven, I just know only a few vampires, but they aren't my coven".

"It's dangerous..." He started, and before he could stop himself, he found that his lips had actually created words of concern. "To be by yourself you know..." Since when had he ever cared about anyone besides himself after she died? Had his sudden run of his mouth poured out such a large amount of words that his brain was malfunctioning? It seemed so...

"Yes, but even if I have no coven, I can always rely on my friends if I'm in trouble", she said. "My name is Rune by the way".

"Jace..." He replied. A vampire with no coven, wandering around by herself. And under the age of 18. Was she asking for death? Or worse, a painful death as a human. His eyes harddened. "I over heard the gargoyle..." He paused. "He said he wished he were human sometimes..." He looked away. "How foolish."

" I don't find it foolish at all", Rune said holding her legs. "Alex wants to go be in the sun and not eat humans. And he really likes a human. So I kind of understand why since humans age and die". She then faced the griffin. "But that is your opinion, so I respect that".

Alex overherd their conversation from under the tree. "Hn. Is it that obvious that I like a human~" he asked leaning against the tree smirking. "Other than that, I'm guessing you really don't like humans.." he said towards the griffen.

"Humans are weak." He said coldly. "They're damagable and easily killed." His eyes flashed in a flicker of a small emotion. "I hate being in this form." He shut his mouth as soon as he realized what he had said. He was giving too much of his personal life away.

"Humans are weak", Rune said. "But if the heart is warm and pure I bet they will accomplish anything. Jace why don't you go into your true form then?"

"Really? I think they're fascinating. Everyone always says that humans are weak, even Dawn. But I want to be like them. At least in the morning." he replied plainly suck'n on another piece of jerky.
Since gargoyle's eat human flesh, they have enough energy to last days. But since Alex didn't eat humans, he needed to eat as much other meat as possible so he could keep up with the natural balance. He looked up at the griffen. "Everyone is weak at first, but it's our will and love for others that makes us strong. That's something I learned a long time ago. And Rune is right too.But let's not go into a whole lecture."

"If I could be in my other form, don't you think I would be?" He hissed. "This body is useless and worthless. It can't do anything." He looked at the vampire girl harshly. "Being human isn't worth anything. You live to die, thats it." He looked back at the gargoyle. "That's something I learned a long time ago." His cold stare was unwavering.

" I was a human before, so thank you for telling me I'm worthless", she said with no anger or sadness in her voice to Jace. His expression was very strange to her. She then tackled hugged him. "Don't be like that, its a festival, your supposed to have a fun time".

He was taken off guard buy the sudden act of affection. So much so that he lost his balance on the tree limb and fell backwards, hittling the ground with a loud thud. Rune was still attatched to him as he groaned in pain.
